About the Databases
Over the years, the Local History Department of the Central Branch of the Corpus Christi Public Libraries has received many donations of historical interest: old photographs, ledgers, journals, scrapbooks, etc. For many years the library has also maintained an index to the obituaries published in the local newspapers.
Thanks to grants received from the Texas State Library and the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the efforts of dedicated volunteers and staff members, indexes to much of that material are being made available on the Web.
Be sure to check our new addition to Local History, the Special Collections & Archives. The Special Collections and Archives is located on the second floor of the Corpus Christi Central Library. The collections include historical materials such as manuscripts, letters, photographs, maps and other documents. Currently, the Collections contain over 50,000 items in 160 collections. We have also recently added a Photograph Collection index.
